Let's Get Physical

Updated: Nov 7, 2018

We recently opened our brand new Fitness Centre, so here's our top 5 tips for when you're trying to stay fit on the go.

#1 Don't delay, start right away

If you've just landed after a long flight, the last thing you may feel like doing is strenuous exercise and it can be hard to find the motivation to head down to the hotel gym. Make things easier on yourself by having your active-wear in your carry-on so you don't have to waste time digging through your suitcase.

#2 Watch your fav' show on Netflix on the run

Kill two birds with one stone! Jump on the treadmill, get those legs moving, and log into your Netflix account. We now have 3 new treadmills, 2 ellipticals and multiple other machines that allow you to access Netflix, Spotify or the iHeartRadio app during your workout. Distract yourself, and before you know it you'll have finished an episode of Brooklyn Nine Nine and fit in a 20 minute run!

#3 When you're on the home STRETCH

Try to fit in at least 10 minutes of stretching per day. This will help to wake up your body and prevent injury during your workout. Our gym has plenty of floor space to utilise, so grab a gym mat and touch your toes (no, that does not mean lie on the floor & take a nap).

#4 Focus on your breathing

When exercising, pay attention to your breathing pattern. How deep are your breaths? Are you breathing through your nose? Is your breathing coinciding with the rhythm of music you're playing or your steps as you run? You want to power your muscles with fresh oxygen to achieve your optimal performance.

#5 Get a good night's sleep!

We can assure you that this won't be a problem while staying at Holiday Inn Sydney Airport, so you should be able to wake up feeling refreshed to take on the day (and hopefully your workout at our new fitness centre!).
