A Greener Stay 🌏

Let's face it, for even the most eco-conscious of travelers, it's hard to be a globetrotter without leaving at least a small trace of environmental harm in your wake. From the carbon emissions produced by planes, purchasing mass-produced and soon forgotten about plastic souvenirs and of course the insane amount of water used to wash hotel linen, traveling sustainably can sometimes be difficult. However don't be discouraged, and certainly don't hold back on those travel plans - thankfully, the tourism industry is stepping up and making change!

Holiday Inn Sydney Airport now has a new program for guests who wish to decrease their environmental footprint while traveling. We will be the first Holiday Inn hotel to roll out the Greener Stay initiative in Australasia.

From the 5th of November 2018, guests who opt in to our Greener Stay program decline all housekeeping services during their stay. That's right; no fresh towels, no bed linen changes, and no new toiletries. These measures will help contribute to preserving resources, reducing waste and conserving energy and water.

We also want to thank guests for their sustainability efforts, and for doing your bit to support a greener world. For stays of 2 nights or more, Greener Stay guests will be rewarded with a bonus 500 IHG® Rewards Club points!

According to a survey conducted by Booking.com earlier this year, more than two-thirds of travelers (68%) intended to stay in eco-friendly accommodation in 2018. Additionally, results from a TripAdvisor survey showed that the majority of respondents said that they turn off the lights when leaving their rooms, participate in the hotel’s program to reuse linens and towels, and recycle on-site.

So be proud of your contribution towards a greener world - hang your Greener Stay doorhanger next time you are at at Holiday Inn Sydney Airport to let other guests know you're an advocate for our Earth.
